A THOUGHTFUL START

your priorities. a clearer conversation.

A useful motor insurance enquiry starts with your vehicle and how you use it. AMAFH helps you bring those details together and identify questions for the insurer. Only the issued policy and its schedule confirm the cover you have.

Availability, eligibility, approval, fees and terms are determined by the relevant provider.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

look beyond the headline.

Three areas to explore with the provider before making a decision.

01

The scope of protection

Third-party liability and cover for loss or damage to your own vehicle address different risks. Read each policy’s inclusions and exclusions before comparing prices.

02

Repairs and claims

Check agency or approved-garage repairs, the excess, claims reporting steps and the documents needed. A cheaper premium may come with different repair conditions.

03

The details in the schedule

Confirm the insured value, geographical limits, permitted use and optional benefits such as roadside assistance or a replacement vehicle. Do not assume add-ons are included.

PREPARE YOUR ENQUIRY

a few details. a better starting point.

Share an outline of your plans first. You do not need to send documents to start a conversation with AMAFH.

Enquire about this service
  • Vehicle make, model, year and value
  • Registration and current policy status
  • Driver profile and claims history
  • Preferred cover and repair arrangement

Tell the insurer accurately about the vehicle and its use. Cover starts according to the issued policy’s effective date and conditions, not when you send an enquiry.

Car insurance · A PRACTICAL GUIDE

understand the details.
see the whole picture.

Use these considerations to prepare a focused enquiry. Compare the provider’s current written terms for your circumstances.

Start with how you use your vehicle

Tell the insurer about the vehicle, its drivers and its intended use accurately. Personal commuting, business use and other activities may have different policy conditions. Review the territorial limits and permitted-driver rules, and ask about any use that is especially important to you. The policy wording and schedule take priority over an informal description of the cover.

Compare the claims experience on paper

Before accepting a quotation, understand how an insured event is reported, which repair arrangement applies and what you may contribute towards a claim. Ask about required reports, approved repair facilities and any conditions for a replacement vehicle or roadside support. These details can affect the practical value of cover even when two premiums look similar.

Review renewal rather than repeating last year

At renewal, check whether vehicle value, drivers, use or desired cover have changed. Read the new schedule, excess and exclusions instead of assuming the previous conditions continue. Confirm the effective date so the timing of the old and new policies is clear. Any change in information should be discussed with the insurer through its official process.

Questions to take into your provider conversation
Area to reviewA useful question
Insured valueWhat value is shown in the schedule and how is it used in an eligible claim?
RepairsAre repairs through an agency or approved garage, and are there conditions?
Excess and exclusionsWhat must I contribute and which events, uses or drivers are excluded?
Optional benefitsWhich add-ons are included, which cost extra and how can they be used?

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

your questions, answered.

Still have something in mind? Speak to our Dubai team.

Ask our team
What is the difference between third-party and comprehensive?

Third-party cover addresses specified liabilities to others. Comprehensive motor cover generally also includes insured loss or damage to your vehicle, subject to exclusions and policy conditions.

What is an excess?

It is an amount you may need to contribute towards a covered claim. Check the standard excess and whether additional amounts apply to particular drivers or circumstances.

Are agency repairs always included?

No. Repair arrangements depend on the product, vehicle and policy schedule. Ask explicitly before accepting the quotation.

Where do I report a claim?

Use the insurer’s official claims channel and follow the policy’s reporting requirements. An AMAFH website enquiry is not a claim notification.

Does comprehensive cover mean every situation is covered?

No. Exclusions, geographical limits, driver conditions and optional benefits still apply. Read the wording for the event you are concerned about and ask the insurer for clarification before purchase.

Should I reuse my previous policy details at renewal?

Review them first. Changes in vehicle information, drivers or use can matter, and the new quotation may have different terms. Confirm the details and effective date with the insurer.

A CLOSER LOOK

cover for the journey.
clarity for the unexpected.

A useful UAE car-insurance comparison starts with the vehicle and its use. Explore the type of cover, repair arrangements and policy procedure alongside the premium.

Third-party and comprehensive policies describe different starting points for cover. Ask the insurer to explain which liabilities and vehicle losses the actual policy includes, rather than relying on the label alone. Your vehicle, its use and the conditions in the wording all matter. Compare quotations using the same vehicle information so that a lower premium is not being mistaken for equivalent cover with different limits or exclusions.

Compare the actual cover, not only its name.
Discuss this with AMAFH

Ask how repairs are arranged and what agency or non-agency repair means under the proposed policy. Review the excess and conditions attached to roadside assistance, a replacement vehicle or other optional benefits you are considering. A feature may have a usage limit or a particular procedure. Keep these details with the quotation so the benefit you expect can be checked against what the policy actually promises.

Know how a benefit would be used in practice.
Discuss this with AMAFH

Before choosing a policy, ask where the claim procedure is explained and which documents the insurer may request after an incident. Keep the policy information and insurer contact details available for reference. Also ask how changes in vehicle use, drivers or other declared information should be reported. Reviewing the renewal arrangement gives you a clearer view of the policy relationship beyond the first premium payment.

YOUR NEXT STEP, CONSIDERED

a clearer insurance comparison.
a better-prepared enquiry.

Keep these details together when discussing car cover. They help you compare like for like while leaving the actual underwriting and issued policy to the insurer.

Start a focused conversation
01 / 03

Use a consistent vehicle outline

Prepare the vehicle information and intended use you want to discuss. If a quotation requires a valuation or other details, ask how the insurer obtains or confirms them. Use the same outline in each comparison so differences in the quote are easier to explain.

  • Vehicle details and declared use
  • The information required for a quotation
  • Comparable assumptions across discussions
Discuss car-insurance cover
02 / 03

Read excess and exclusions carefully

The premium does not explain what you may need to pay after a claim or which circumstances are outside cover. Ask the insurer how the excess and exclusions operate under the proposed wording. Review optional benefits separately where their conditions differ from the main policy.

  • The excess for relevant claim situations
  • Important exclusions and declared conditions
  • Limits attached to optional benefits
Review insurance considerations
03 / 03

Keep finance and insurance distinct

If the vehicle is part of a finance enquiry, ask which insurance requirements the lender specifies and which policy terms the insurer confirms. The two arrangements may support one purchase, but they have separate documents, costs and procedures. Keep both sets of information clear before the next stage.

  • Any lender-related insurance requirements
  • The insurer’s policy and premium details
  • Separate finance and claims responsibilities
