A THOUGHTFUL START

your priorities. a clearer conversation.

Whether your enquiry relates to a planned expense or an existing finance arrangement, start with the amount you need and what you can comfortably repay. AMAFH helps organise the conversation; the lender determines availability, affordability and approval.

Availability, eligibility, approval, fees and terms are determined by the relevant provider.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

look beyond the headline.

Three areas to explore with the provider before making a decision.

01

Look at the total

Compare the total repayable amount, processing charges and insurance requirements alongside the quoted interest or profit rate.

02

A term that fits

A longer term can reduce a monthly instalment while increasing overall borrowing costs. Review the payment schedule and leave room for everyday expenses.

03

Know the conditions

Ask whether salary transfer is required, how early settlement works, and what happens if a payment is missed. Conventional and Islamic products have different contracts.

PREPARE YOUR ENQUIRY

a few details. a better starting point.

Share an outline of your plans first. You do not need to send documents to start a conversation with AMAFH.

Enquire about this service
  • Purpose and approximate finance amount
  • Comfortable monthly repayment range
  • Employment and salary-transfer position
  • Existing loans and card commitments

A lender may request salary evidence, bank statements and identification. Its credit and affordability assessment applies even when an initial enquiry looks suitable.

Personal finance · A PRACTICAL GUIDE

understand the details.
see the whole picture.

Use these considerations to prepare a focused enquiry. Compare the provider’s current written terms for your circumstances.

Define the amount before the instalment

Separate the expense you intend to fund from other spending you may be tempted to include. Write down the amount needed, your available contribution and the monthly commitments you already have. This gives the provider a clearer starting point and helps you evaluate whether a proposed repayment schedule fits your wider household budget.

Compare like-for-like offers

Two quotations are easier to compare when they use the same amount and term. Ask for the calculation basis behind an interest or profit rate and a written repayment illustration. Include upfront fees, recurring charges and any required insurance in the discussion. A lower advertised number can be incomplete without the associated costs and conditions.

Think through changes in circumstances

Ask what you should do if your employment, income or payment arrangements change. Understand the early-settlement process, the consequences of missed payments and the provider’s support channels before signing. Keep a copy of the agreement and payment schedule. AMAFH supports the enquiry; ongoing finance servicing and account decisions stay with the lender.

Questions to take into your provider conversation
Area to reviewA useful question
Amount and termAre the offers based on the same finance amount and repayment period?
Total costWhat will be paid in total, including fees and required ancillary products?
Salary transferDoes the product require salary transfer or specific employer acceptance?
Early settlementHow is the outstanding amount calculated and which settlement charges apply?

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

your questions, answered.

Still have something in mind? Speak to our Dubai team.

Ask our team
Are personal finance and a personal loan the same?

They can meet similar needs, but their contractual structures may differ, including conventional lending and Islamic finance. Ask the provider to explain the contract, pricing and repayment obligations.

Do I have to transfer my salary?

This depends on the lender and product. Check any salary-transfer requirement, employer criteria and account conditions before applying.

Can I settle the finance early?

Ask for the early-settlement procedure and applicable charges in writing. Include these when comparing options, particularly if you expect your circumstances to change.

How long will a decision take?

Timing depends on document completeness and the provider’s checks. AMAFH does not promise a fixed approval time or outcome.

Can a self-employed person start an enquiry?

Yes. Describe your income profile in general terms. Availability and documentation are provider-specific, and business or account records may be requested during assessment. Starting an enquiry does not establish eligibility.

Is a lower monthly payment always a lower-cost option?

No. A longer term can change the total paid even when each instalment is smaller. Compare the complete repayment schedule, fees and settlement terms on the same amount, and ask the lender to explain the calculation.

KEEP EXPLORING

connected plans. more possibilities.

A CLOSER LOOK

make room for the plan.
understand the repayment.

A personal-finance enquiry should describe the purpose and explore the whole commitment. Look at the amount, pricing method, term and existing obligations together before discussing an application.

Describe the expense you want to explore and the timing that matters. Consider whether the need is one-off or part of a continuing budget, and separate essential costs from optional spending. This gives your enquiry a clearer starting point than asking only for the largest available amount. The lender’s assessment still determines whether it can offer finance and the terms that apply to your circumstances.

A defined expense makes the enquiry more useful.
Discuss this with AMAFH

Ask how the rate is described and calculated, what fees apply and what the total repayment would be under the proposed terms. A flat rate and a reducing-balance rate describe different calculations, so headline figures should not be compared without an explanation. Review any initial charges alongside the continuing instalments. If the rate can vary, ask how that would affect the payment and the remaining commitment.

Read the calculation, not just the rate headline.
Discuss this with AMAFH

Think about the payment dates and the period over which the commitment would continue. Ask what happens if you want to settle early, make an additional payment or request a change. Refinancing or extending a repayment period can alter the overall cost, even when the monthly amount appears lower. Keep the provider’s written explanation with the proposed schedule so future choices can be reviewed against the actual agreement.

A lower monthly payment is not the whole cost.

YOUR NEXT STEP, CONSIDERED

prepare a focused enquiry.
review a complete offer.

Use these checkpoints to organise a personal-loan or personal-finance conversation in the UAE. The aim is a clearer discussion, not an assumed amount, rate or approval.

Start a focused conversation
01 / 03

Set out the wider monthly picture

Consider the commitments you already have and the regular expenses that would continue alongside a repayment. Ask which information the lender needs for its assessment rather than relying on an informal estimate of eligibility. Your initial AMAFH message can describe the purpose without sharing account statements.

  • Purpose and preferred purchase timing
  • Existing commitments to consider privately
  • The lender’s explained assessment process
Discuss personal finance
02 / 03

Compare written offers consistently

Use a comparable amount and term when discussing different offers. Keep rate calculation, fees and total repayments in the same notes rather than comparing monthly amounts alone. Ask whether the quoted information is indicative or part of a formal offer for your application.

  • Comparable amount and repayment period
  • Calculation method, charges and total cost
  • Indicative information versus a formal offer
See how to compare
03 / 03

Clarify any account or linked requirement

Ask whether the finance arrangement has any salary, account or protection requirement and how its terms are described. Keep each related product distinct from the finance agreement. Knowing how the parts fit together helps you review continuing charges and responsibilities before you choose a next step.

  • Any salary or account conditions
  • Separate terms for related products
  • Ongoing responsibilities during the term
